Available Position: Network Consultant

We are looking for a Network Consultant to work within our support team offering a range of IT services. You will work directly with our clients on support requests and project work, ensuring all requests are completed in line with our strict response times and to a best practices standard.

You will be expected to manage your own work load at every stage of a service request – from keeping the client informed to actually completing the request and getting sign off. You will need to be able to work off of your own initiative, and have good time management, communication, and technical skills.

Our support often includes on-site support, so you will need a Full UK driving license (and a passport!).


Key Responsibilities

  • Responding to support requests from our fully managed and ad-hoc support clients, primarily remotely from our offices but also on site (UK wide and occasionally abroad) when required.
  • Performing project work for clients, such as deployment of new servers, network devices, and PCs/Laptops, again, primarily remotely and on-site when required.
  • Proactive support using our comprehensive monitoring system – regular checks for trends, responding to any alerts, and generally making sure everything is working OK for our clients.
  • Maintain and enhance internal systems (such as our monitoring system) to improve our services.
  • Be a central point of contact for clients, for both general advice and support requirements.
  • Take part in a 24/7 on-call rota.

Key Skills

You will be required to have past IT support experience working in a similar role. We are only looking to work with people who share our passion for providing the very highest service possible to our clients.

We offer a range of IT services, focusing on fully managed solutions – that’s everything from servers to network devices. Therefore, we support a number of key technologies:

  • Cisco - switches, routers, firewalls (security appliances), wireless solutions, and VoIP (SBCS, UC500)
  • HP Networking (ProCurve) - switches, wireless.
  • Microsoft – Windows Server, Exchange Server, SQL Server, SharePoint Server, Dynamics CRM, Remote Desktop Services, IIS.
  • Windows-based PCs and Laptops (user support).
  • Linux Servers – CentOS and Ubuntu based Apache and MySQL servers.
  • Other – Basically, anything IT network based! (Broad, because it often is).
